Witness Tips Leads to Arrest in Bank Robbery

CHARLOTTE, N.C.-- University Division officers with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department arrested a man witnesses say robbed a bank in north Charlotte.

Tony Jess Combs II, 24, was arrested and charged with common law robbery for his involvement in this case.

Officers responded to the PNC Bank on East W.T. Harris Boulevard just before 2:30 p.m. Tuesday after 911 calls were made about a robbery. Combs led officers on a foot chase before he was taken into custody and positively identified by witnesses.
