Charlotte, NC - 26 year old Army veteran and current UNC- Charlotte student Daniel Rufty is getting used to the cameras and the bright lights. In three weeks he'll be one of the youngest delegates representing North Carolina at the Republican National Convention in Tampa, Florida. He says, "I took it as my personal responsibility to get involved. Our government and our administration is out of control."

On the other side of the political aisle you'll find 18 year old Vibhav Kalou. who will be a freshman at UNC this fall. But first, he'll represent the North Carolina as the youngest delegate at September's Democratic National Convention here in Charlotte. He says he decided to become a delegate when he was 17. "Mentors and friends asked me, i should just give it a try you know. There's nothing to lose, I might as well run for delegate and get my name out there."

Vibhav's path to make that happen is probably more like what you expect, than Daniel's though. Vibhav said, “I had campaign supplies and distributed it out to 12th congressional district delegates. I had a campaign slogan, 'Stay blue with Kalou'. I had a good message, I'll be the youngest delegate and it resonated."

But for Daniel Rufty, "There's nothing crazy to it. There's no crazy donations you have to make. There's no obligations you have to make. Its just showing up. That's what I did, I showed up." And now he's heading to Tampa to represent North Carolina and be part of history.
