Army Investigating Bowe Bergdahl's Disappearance

WASHINGTON, DC -- The Army is conducting a new investigation into Sergeant Bowe Bergdahl's disappearance.  A military report in 2009 concluded he left his post willingly.  The report did not label Bergdahl a deserter because officials couldn't ask him why he left.  Some former soldiers who served with Bergdahl have criticized the rescue operation.

Tuesday, President Obama defended the decision to get Bergdahl back.  "Whatever those circumstances may turn out to be, we still get an American soldier back if he's held in captivity. Period."

Bergdahl spent five years in captivity.  He was freed on Saturday in exchange for five Taliban detainees who were held at Guantanamo Bay.
