CT Town Collects Over 500 Guns After Newtown Shooting
by FOX Charlotte

BRIDGEPORT, CT-- A Connecticut town is going all out to get guns off the street in response to the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting.

Police say owners in Bridgeport started dropping off their guns days after the attack. The city is about 30 minutes away from Newtown.

Cops got an even bigger response once they began offering gift cards and cash in exchange. The buy back is scheduled to wrap up this week, but police plan to extend the program.

So far, people have turned in more than 500 firearms and the city has paid out about $60,000.
