Colorado Fires are 75 Percent Contained, Firefighters Say
COLORADO-- Firefighters report the wildfires that ignited in Colorado are now 75 percent contained.
These are the most destructive wildfires in the state's history, according to records.
The fires have not destroyed any new structures, nor do they appear to be gaining ground, firefighters say.
As fire crews stamp out hot spots across Colorado Springs, workers are currenly fixing roads and downed powerlines.
Authorities allowed some evacuees to return to their homes last night.
One of the evacuees Anna Garrity said she felt grateful for the crews' hard work.
"[I] went into the house and grabbed a bag of goodies and came down here and said, 'Thank you,'" she said. "They saved our house."
Fires have destroyed more than 800 homes near the Colorado Springs area in the past year.
