Defense Secretary Hagel Grilled Over Sgt. Bergdahl's Release

by WCCB Charlotte

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- The US Defense Secretary is defending the prisoner exchange that freed Army Sergeant Bowe Bergdahl from the Taliban.  Chuck Hagel was grilled Wednesday during a Congressional hearing.  Lawmakers are angry that they were not notified before the Obama Administration released five Taliban detainees in exchange for Bergdahl.

"The President's decision to move forward with the transfer of these detainees was a tough call.  I supported it, I stand by it," said Hagel.

Bergdahl remains in a medical facility in Germany.  There's word travel arrangements have been made for him to come back to the US.  There's no word when.
