AMARILLO, T.X.--The National Weather Service released these pictures of hail that formed after a storm just north of Amarillo, Texas. 

The piles of hail were so tall that they cut off a major highway. 

A spokesperson for the National Weather Service said these things happen when there is a considerable amount of rain during a hail storm.
