Panicked Buyers Stockpiling Guns and AmmoCHARLOTTE, N.C.--People in Charlotte and across the country are stockpiling ammunition and weapons because of possible changes to gun laws. December gun sales jumped 58%. Twenty and 30 round magazines are sold out at gun stores and gun shows even though ammo prices have doubled. Assault weapons also cost more. The assault guns that used to cost $600 are going for $1,200. Critics of gun law reform say less than 2% of crimes are committed with assault weapons. We checked with our local police departments and they say their ammo supply is fine. |
