TAYLORSVILLE, UTAH--A soccer referee who was punched by a 17-year-old player during a game has died.

Police say the teen hit 46-year-old Ricardo Portillo after he received a yellow card during a match at Eisenhower Junior High School.

Investigators say the teen got upset and punched Portillo in the head while he was noting the offense in his notebook.

Portillo began vomiting after the blow and was rushed to a local hospital.  He then went into a coma on April 27th.  Portillo died over the weekend.

The teen has been charged with suspicion of aggravated assault but authorities are considering additional charges since Portillo died.

An autopsy has been planned.  No official cause of death has been released at this time.
