SAN DIEGO, C.A.--Food fight!!!!  Paying customers forked over cash to pummel each other with tomatoes. 

It's the Great Tomato Battle of 2012 in San Diego.  Food fighters threw about 46,000 pounds of tomatoes. 

Organizers say it's all about blowing off steam.  Experienced contestants came armed with goggles, ponchos and shields.
