1 dead, 3 wounded in Robeson County shooting

FAIRMONT, N.C. (AP) — Authorities say a shooting in Robeson County has left one man dead and three others injured.

Sheriff Kenneth Sealey told The Fayetteville Observer that 48-year-old John Wesley Faircloth Jr. was arrested Saturday and charged with first-degree murder.

Sealey says deputies have no motive for the shootings at a home in Fairmont around 11:30 p.m. Friday.

Authorities say 55-year-old Kenneth Hammonds was killed and his wife wounded. Another couple at the home was also seriously injured.

The sheriff says it appeared a number of shots were fired at the home.

Faircloth is charged with first-degree murder and remains in jail. It wasn't clear if he had an attorney.
