APEX, N.C. (AP) — The North Carolina Highway Patrol has charged an Apex man in a wreck that killed two people.

Thirty-two-year-old Abel Reyes Lara has been charged with leaving the scene of the wreck and failure to have a driver's license.

Twenty-six-year-old Francisco Gonzalez and 30-year-old Ramiro Arroyo-Rosales of Apex were killed in the wreck Saturday afternoon. Troopers say both men were in a pickup truck that Lara was driving when it ran off a road and overturned.

Trooper J.L. Taylor says Lara's truck had crossed the center line of a road and sideswiped another vehicle before crashing.

It was not clear if Lara has an attorney. Federal immigration officials have filed a detention request against him.
