Supporters Give Romney, Ryan a Sendoff from Florida
LAKELAND, Fla. (AP) — Mitt Romney and running mate Paul Ryan have left Florida after a morning rally -- but instead of traveling with Ryan to Virginia as originally planned, Romney left for Louisiana to see damage from Hurricane Isaac.
At the rally with more than 2,000 supporters, Romney urged the crowd to work to find people who voted for Barack Obama in 2008 but who might vote for Romney this time.
He said, "You can see some of the glue on the back of their bumper sticker where it used to be, and so you can find them." He urged supporters to "convince them to get on our team and to help us."
In his acceptance speech last night, Romney seized on voter disappointment with Obama, saying, "You know there's something wrong with the kind of job he's done as president when the best feeling you had was the day you voted for him."
Warming up the crowd for Romney today, Ryan said Americans now have a "very clear choice" between what he described as a failed presidency and a stagnant economy on the one hand, and fresh leadership that will turn the economy around.
