Fayetteville man surrenders in New Year's shootingFAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (AP) — A Fayetteville man has surrendered in the shooting death of a man on New Year's Day. The Fayetteville Observer reported (http://bit.ly/Wtw3mM) that 20-year-old Dion Laquan Johnson turned himself in to police Tuesday morning. Johnson is charged with second-degree murder in the death of 19-year-old William Earl Barnes III of Fayetteville. Barnes was shot shortly after 2 a.m. on New Year's Day after a confrontation at a party. Someone at the party drove Barnes to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center where he died about two hours later.
