Man charged after dog stabbed in neck in Asheville
ASHEVILLE, N.C. (AP) — Buncombe County deputies say a 46-year-old man was arrested after he stabbed a dog in the neck.
Investigators told the Asheville Citizen-Times (http://avlne.ws/175dfTx ) that Randy Radford is charged with felony cruelty to animals. The dog survived the attack.
Mildred Proffitt says her ex-boyfriend told her he stabbed the dog Thursday because he was angry after it killed another dog.
Proffitt says deputies and her son followed a trail of blood into the woods and found the dog, who underwent surgery at a veterinarian's office and is recovering.
It wasn't known if Radford had an attorney and the newspaper reported he could not be reached for comment.
