Man Gets Life in Prison in Charlotte Death

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — A Charlotte man has been sentenced to life in prison without parole for the 2011 shooting death of a man at an apartment.

The Charlotte Observer reports a Mecklenburg County jury found 35-year-old Jeremiah Lamont Luke guilty Wednesday of killing 30-year-old Mikal Lee Legrande.

Prosecutors said Luke confronted Legrande about comments that Legrande had posted on Facebook.

Luke said he acted in self-defense.

The jury deliberated two hours before returning the guilty verdict on a first-degree murder charge.
