FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (AP) — Police have released the names of two Fayetteville residents killed in a three-vehicle crash.
Fayetteville police say the wreck early Wednesday morning killed the driver of an SUV, 23-year-old Shayla Cole, and 28-year-old Marcel Roman Gist, a passenger in a car, died from their injuries.
Cole died at the scene. Gist died at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center where he died.
The driver of a third car was flown to University of North Carolina Hospitals in Chapel Hill for treatment. Four other people suffered injuries that were not life-threatening.
The wreck closed a highway for about five hours.
