$80K Worth of Damages in Friday Morning Fire

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Firefighters from West Mecklenburg Volunteer Fire Department, and Steele Creek Volunteer Fire Department battled a house fire, early Friday morning which appeared to be arson.

At 3:27am on Friday January 25th, 2013, both departments received a dispatch of a fire alarm at: 10345 Walkers Ferry Road in Charlotte.

Crews arrived on the scene, and witnessed a one story residential structure with smoke and flames shooting out of two windows and the eaves of the dwelling.

Firefighters entered the structure and began to battle the fire, when personnel found a female victim laying in the floor of one of the bedrooms, and rescued her from the burning home.

The victim was transported to Carolina's Medical Center in Charlotte with life threatening injuries, but is expected to survive. CMPD says someone stabbed the homeowner then set the home on fire.

We are learning that the house sustained $80,000 in content and dwelling damages, with the resident living in the home displaced.
