NC Inmate Escapes From Prison Construction Crew

TAYLORSVILLE, N.C. - A North Carolina inmate escaped Wednesday afternoon from a prison construction crew building an addition to Alexander Correctional Institution.

Xavier Shaw, 45, was serving a six-year sentence for kidnapping and several counts of common law robbery.  His prison term was scheduled to end August 30, but he has charges pending in Wake County for robbery with a dangerous weapon, possession of a firearm by a felon and other crimes.
