Albemarle Man Jailed After Shooting Into Occupied Vehicle

ALBEMARLE, N.C.-- An Albemarle man is in jail after police say he fired a handgun into a vehicle with two people inside.

Otis Eugene Burns, 38, was arrested on Feb. 9th after he allegedly fired a revolver into a 2006 Chevrolet Malibu while it was occupied by Eric Poole and Allen Byrd.

Authorities received a call of shots fired in the South Bell Avenue area on Feb. 2nd. Detectives from the Gang of Narcotics Unit say Burns is the man who did it. According to officials, detectives also found a .357 caliber revolver and cocaine at Burns' residence.

Burns has been charged for assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, possession of a firearm by felon, and possession of cocaine. He is currently being held on a $100,000 bond at the Stanly County Jail. His court date is March 4th.
