Church Music Director Charged with Child Sexual AssaultLINCOLNTON, NC - Lincoln County Sheriff’s detectives have charged a Lincoln County man with child sexual assault charges that occurred in August of 2004. Brandon James Carter, 33, of Lincolnton, NC was charged with one felony count each of Statutory Rape/Sex Offense of a 13, 14 or 15 year old by a Defendant 6 years older and Taking Indecent Liberties with a Minor. He was released on a $25,000 secured bond. The incident involved a female who was 13 years old at the time, and was known by the suspect. The offense occurred at a residence in Lincoln County. Carter who is currently the Music Director at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Cherryville was not employed at the church when the incident happened. |
