Google Investing $600 Million And Expanding In NC
by Ashley Armstrong

LENOIR, N.C.-- The announcement came on Friday that Google plans to invest an additional $600 million in the Lenoir data center site.

Google has decided to expand it's operations in western North Carolina, as well as expand renewable energy options in the state. The company will participate in a new program Duke Energy is creating for large customers that want to buy renewable energy.

"We appreciate Google's commitment to our region," said state Rep. Edgar Starnes. "Investments such as the one Google is making in Lenoir will help spur local economic growth and help improve the lives of the people in this community."

The company's total investment is now more than $1.2 billion.
