New Licenses For Immigrants In North Carolina
CHARLOTTE,NC--The DMV will start issuing new driver's licenses without a pink stripe on Monday.
There was concern by activists and immigrants that a pink stripe used to identify non US citizens would cause problems and that the original design would encourage racial profiling.
The DMV says the new I.D's will be altered for some immigrants, but they will not use the dreaded pink stripe to classify the different I.D's.
The new updated design will separate non US citizens by printing "No Lawful Status" on an area of the I.D.
