Overseas Troops CeremonyCHARLOTTE, N.C.-- The Panthers made Service Sunday a memorable one. The team partnered with Bank of America and the USO of North Carolina for Veterans Day. Active duty military were able to communicate live on the big screen with overseas soldiers in Afghanistan for a pre-game re-enlistment ceremony. That is where soldiers renew their oath to the country. It is a custom dating back to the Revolutionary war. A Purple Heart recipient and Panthers Fan was honored for his service and loyalty. Staff Sergeant Brian Williams got to bang the Panthers Keep Pounding Drum. He lost a leg in Afghanistan when an IED he was disarming exploded. Williams is in recovery now. He has always loved the Panthers and that is why he asked to be stationed in North Carolina.
