Queen City Prepares For Snow Storm
CHARLOTTE, NC - People hear winter storm and make a mad dash to the store. From your standard groceries, to storm supplies, things are flying off the shelves.
Our first winter storm of the season is creating quite a flurry. Kids across the Queen City are counting on a snow day and are already making plans to stay up all night and skip out on spelling tests tomorrow.
Big anticipation is bringing about big preparation, no matter how much snow the storm brings our way. South Charlotte resident, Richard Buchanan says sleighs are on the top of his list, "just buying a little sled just in case it does snow, that way we have happy kids instead of angry ones; I cannot go home without this."
University City Resident, Brent Metcalfe, is loading up on ice melter, "I work at a day care center right down the road, so we want to make sure that in case they come in, in the morning that everybody is safe." Mount Holly mother, Michelle Gilliard, says she is stocking up on just about everything, "milk, eggs, cheese, chips, juices, soda and snack food."
Residents have been getting ready for the snow storm all day by stocking up on groceries, but it's not just bread and milk that stores are running out of, residents say toilet paper is also running scarce.
People are also loading up on supplies at local hardware stores. Blackhawk Hardware store manager, Wade Goode says storm supplies are flying out the door, "People are coming in last minute asking; where's the ice melt? where's the ice melt?"
Still even if all of the shovels and sleighs fly off the shelves, Goode says they are prepared for the worst, "We've got another truck coming in tomorrow morning to replenish."
Residents like Metcalfe say they are ready for whatever the storm brings their way, "snow 3-4 inches and ice over, in which case I will be cooking meat loaf all day."
