Suspects Arrested In Series Of Armed Robbery Cases
CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police have made two arrests for the involvement in a series of armed robbery cases.
24-year-old Jakiel Cunningham and 23-year-old Dominique Moffett were arrested and remain in custody after both men were charged with four counts each of Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon and three counts each of Conspiracy to Commit Armed Robbery. Moffett was additionally charged with Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon.
On Thursday, July 24 at 9:08 p.m., officers responded to the 1400 block of Sharon Road West in reference to an armed robbery. The male victim said two black male suspects armed with a handgun approached him and demanded his property. After receiving the items, one of the suspects struck the victim on the head with the gun before fleeing.
A short time later at 9:43 p.m., officers responded to the 100 block of New Bern Street in reference to two separate robberies. The first male victim said he had just gotten out of his vehicle when he was approached by two black male suspects, one of whom was armed with a handgun. The suspects demanded property and fled on foot.
A second male victim said two men assaulted him and fired a shot into the victim's vehicle. After receiving the property, the suspects fled the scene in a silver Nissan Murano. The victim was able to obtain the tag information and gave it to the responding officers.
At approximately 10:45 p.m., officers received an armed robbery call for service in the 7000 block of Albemarle Road. A male victim advised he had given an unknown black male a ride in exchange for money. After arriving at the destination, the male suspect proceeded to rob the victim at gunpoint.
Officers circulating for the suspect observed a silver Nissan Murano matching the suspect vehicle in the robbery from the New Bern Street incident. Officers confirmed that the tags matched the suspect vehicle. Officers observed a firearm in the vehicle with two people inside. The occupants of the vehicle were identified as Cunningham and Moffett.
