Witness Helps Catch Breaking and Entering Suspect
by FOX Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- CMPD has arrested one man for his involvement in several home break-ins.

Hickory Grove Division Officers with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department have arrested Antonio Aguilar, 24, for his involvement in a series of residential breaking and entering cases. Patrol officers were dispatched to a residential breaking and entering 911 call for service at a home in the 1100 block of Spring Laurel Dr.

A witness called 911 stating that a person had just broken into a home.  The first officer who arrived on the scene was flagged down by a witness who identified the suspect and the vehicle he was traveling in.  The officer observed the suspect’s vehicle leaving the scene and immediately conducted a vehicle stop.  It was determined through evidence and information gathered through the witness that Antonio Aguilar was the suspect involved in the breaking and entering case.

During a subsequent investigation concerning the original case, it was determined that Aguilar had broken into two additional homes in the 1110 block of Spring Laurel Dr. Additionally, it was determined that Aguilar committed a larceny from auto the same  day on Spring Ridge Lane.

Antonio Aguilar has been charged with three  counts of residential breaking and entering, breaking and entering of a motor vehicle, larceny and resisting officers. This case illustrates how critical it is for police and the community to work together.  Had it not been for a neighbor willing to get involved,  this individual would likely still be free to victimize others in our community.
