CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — Nevada's top elections official says more than twice as many Democrats than Republicans registered to vote in September.

Secretary of State Ross Miller says his office processed more than 30,000 Democratic registrations last month, compared to less than 15,000 Republican registrations. Another 15,000 people registered as nonpartisan.

Miller says Nevada has 1.2 million active registered voters.

Of that number, 42 percent are Democrats, 36 percent are Republicans and 17 percent are nonpartisan.

Online and mail-in voter registration is open through Saturday. Oct. 16 is the deadline to register to vote in person at a county clerk or registrar's office.
