Reboot Charlotte: DNC Business DirectoryCharlotte, NC- The Charlotte host committee for the Democratic National Convention has created a tool meant to boost the involvement of local businesses in convention activities. It's an online vendor directory that's free for businesses to access and promote themselves. Kimberly Edmonds who owns a Charlotte based talent management and event planning business was one of the first local company's to sign up. She says, “"its creating a major international platform for everyone that's involved."
Robyn Hamilton, who is a liaison between the host committee for the convention and businesses says, the website can open a world of opportunity to Charlotte businesses. She says, the needs are varied. “"We've heard a little bit of everything. Folks need hair, they need nails they need make up. Folks need dog sitting services." Most importantly, she says don't discount what you have to offer. That's something caricature artist Joel Kweskin is counting on. He says, "I'm hopeful that people such as yourself that did find me, will find me and consider caricature art as a unique form of entertainment for their parties and events." If they don't find him, Hamilton points out the directory's secondary function – linking businesses for partnerships. “You really gotta figure out what you can do to provide more capacity. Often that comes from joint ventures, partnerships and alliances." Most Popular |
