COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — Authorities are seeking a hit-and-run driver who struck and killed a 53-year-old woman late Saturday in Richland County.

Sgt. Kelly Hughes of the South Carolina Highway Patrol says it happened about 11:35 p.m. outside the city of Columbia on Decker Boulevard near Ranch Road. He says the woman, who was wearing dark clothing, was struck in the roadway by a southbound pickup truck. He says it may be a white Dodge with an extended cab, and should have damage around the front.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities were not releasing her name early Sunday.

Hughes asks anyone with information about the hit-and-run to call the Highway Patrol at 803-896-9621. They can also press star HP on their cell phone or call their local Crimestoppers.
