Seneca man killed in motorcycle accident near home

SENECA, S.C. (AP) — The Oconee County coroner says a 30-year-old Seneca man was killed when he lost control of his motorcycle and crashed less than 200 feet from his home.

Coroner Karl E. Addis said Christopher Allen Marchbanks died where he crashed around 10:40 p.m. Friday. Addis said Marchbanks wasn't wearing a helmet and suffered severe head and neck injuries.

Lance Cpl. Bill Rhyne of the South Carolina Highway Patrol said Marchbanks lost control of his 2005 Honda Shadow when he entered a curve. Addis said Marchbanks was returning home from a short ride when the accident occurred.

Addis ruled the death and accident and said he will not do an autopsy.
