Man pleads to string of SC restaurant holdupsCHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) — A man facing weapons and conspiracy charges in a string of Lowcountry holdups over several years has pleaded guilty in federal court. The Post and Courier reports (http://bit.ly/VMzkPa) that 33-year-old Christopher Donnell Simmons of Wadmalaw Island pleaded guilty on Monday to four counts including weapons and conspiracy charges. The indictment included counts stemming from the holdups of more than a dozen Asian restaurants and check-cashing stores from 2009 through 2011. Authorities say the robberies took place over a wide area from Walterboro to Holly Hill. As part of a plea agreement, Simmons must make restitution and cooperate with authorities.
