SPARTANBURG, S.C. (AP) — Officials with the South Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice are dedicating a Spartanburg garden in memory of crime victims.

DJJ is taking part Monday in an observance of National Victims' Rights Week. The agency is joining members of the Spartanburg County Clerk of Court's office to dedicate the garden, which has been newly landscaped.

Officials say youth offenders helped landscape the space. Speakers at Monday's event include Marvin Bryant, president of the South Carolina Chapter of Parents of Murdered Children, and Spartanburg Mayor Junis White.

DJJ director Margaret Barber is also expected to attend.
