South Carolina town named All America cityMOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (AP) — A South Carolina town is celebrating its designation as an All America city. Mount Pleasant celebrates at its Memorial Waterfront Park on Saturday. The evening celebration includes free T-shirts with the new town logo, a jump castle for the kids and a fire department display that simulates what it is like to be in a house fire. The party is capped off with a free outdoor showing of the movie "ET: The Extraterrestrial." The National Civic League bestows the All America designation in a competition involving cities nationwide. Ten cities were honored in June. North Miami, Fla., Acworth, Ga., and Gastonia, N.C., are other Southern cities that received the award. |
