No Property Tax Hike Under City Manager's Proposed Budget
CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- City Manager Ron Carlee presented his budget recommendations during a presentation to the Charlotte Mayor and City Council.
There is no property tax hike for the next fiscal year but Charlotte residents would have to pay higher fees under the city manager's proposed budget. Council members received a breakdown of the $2.1 billion dollar proposal during Monday's meeting. That's 6.5% more than last year's budget. The budget calls for a nearly 2% increase in water, sewer and storm water fees. The average customer will pay about two dollars more a month.
The Mayor and City Council will review and discuss the city manager's recommendations in work sessions over the next few weeks. There will be a public hearing on the budget on Monday, May 12, at 7 p.m.
