CHARLESTON, S.C.-- Republican Mark Sanford has a court hearing for allegedly trespassing onto his ex-wife's property.
Sanford's court date is set for May 9th, just two days after he faces Democrat Elizabeth Busch in an election for South Carolina's 1st District Congressional seat.
Ex-wife Jenny Sanford filed the complaint against the former governor, that says she saw him exiting the back door of her home on February 3rd while using his cell phone for a flashlight. The couple's 2010 divorce settlement states that neither may enter the other's home without permission.
Jenny Sanford says the timing of the hearing has nothing to do with his attempt to rebuild his political career.
