1,600 New Jobs Coming to CharlotteCHARLOTTE, N.C.-- The Charlotte Chamber of Commerce announced Wednesday morning that more than 1,600 new jobs are coming to Charlotte. Convergys, a business process outsourcing global leader in providing customer care, plans to create the jobs at its two facilities in southeast Charlotte and in the University City area. “The Charlotte Chamber congratulates Convergys on their significant expansion plans in our community. The 1,600 jobs they plan to create here will go a long way in helping to further stimulate our economy. Convergys is one of nearly 50 call centers located in Mecklenburg County that employ more than 13,000 people,” said Brett Carter, senior vice president and chief distribution officer of Duke Energy and Charlotte Chamber chairman. The company also plans to spend about $1.8 million to renovate its existing facility on McAlpine Park Drive. Most of the new jobs are for customer support associates who will provide both general support and technical help services to a Convergys client through traditional voice calling, email and Web chat.
