$180,000 Chunk Of Ambergris Found On British Coast
LANCASHIRE-- Reports say a British man found a rare lump of whale vomit worth a possible $180,000.
Ken Wilman found the 6-pound lump of Ambergris while walking his dog along Morecambe beach in Lancashire.
"When I picked it up and smelled it, I put it back down again and i thought 'urgh'," Wilman told the BBC.
At first Wilman was not sure about his discovery but after investigation realized his fortune.
Ambergris is a rare substance produced in the digestive system of sperm whales that is highly sought after by perfumers.
When aged Ambergris produces a distinct aroma that is used in many types of colognes and perfumes.
A French dealer has already offered a reported $68,000 for the lump, but the the worth is said to depend on how fresh the Ambergris is.
