Flooding Downs Trees and Power Lines in Western NC


ASHEVILLE, N.C. (AP) — Heavy rain and wind nave pounded western North Carolina, downing trees and power lines and bringing threats of flooding.

Utility companies said more than 3,500 customers were without electricity in the region early Monday.

The National Weather Service had flood warnings and flood watches across much of the western and north central parts of the state.

Dozens of tree were knocked over Sunday.

No injuries have been reported.

Some parts of the region have received 4 inches of rain. More rain was possible on Monday.
