26-year-old David Hubbard has the same concerns about his body that a lot of men do. “This is the area I don't like, this is the area I'd like to see the shirt work,” he says, pointing to his belly. He says he's gained some weight over the past few years, and now he's uncomfortable wearing one of his favorite shirts, a fitted black button down. "In this shirt, I look frumpy,” he says.

So into the bedroom he goes to slip, err, squeeze, into the Spanx. He yelled out, "If it this is what it's like to squeeze into a girdle, I don't want to be a woman!"

We'll check back in with David in a moment, but first, Dr. Stephan Finical with Charlotte Plastic Surgery hadn't seen the new Spanx shirt before we showed it to him. His patients wear a compression garment right after surgery, but Finical says he'd also recommend the Spanx shirt. "In recovery mode, I certainly would,” he says. According to the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, men had more than 900,000 cosmetic procedures in 2009. The top five procedures for men were: liposuction, nose jobs, eyelid surgery, breast reduction and hair transplantation. Finical says something like the Spanx shirt could serve as motivation to get into a gym or, maybe even surgery. He says, "For most people, something like this is a jump start."

The Spanx creator says men begged her to make the shirt. There are others on the market, but Sarah Blakely's is the only one made of cotton. She says, “It's gonna look, act and feel like your regular undershirt, it's just gonna make you look that much better."

Back at David's house, he likes what he sees. “Much better, much better, I can feel a difference here, I can feel a difference here,” he says, pointing to his belly and upper arm area. He says the compression shirt is comfortable and supportive. "I definitely would say that it works, I feel different in it."

The Spanx compression shirt retails for $58. David says while the product worked, he wouldn't pay that much for it.
