Andy Griffith Dead at 86

MANTEO, N.C.--Andy Griffith has died at the age of 86, according to Griffith's close friend and former UNC President Bill Friday. 

It has been reported that Griffith died at his home Tuesday morning.  Griffith is known for his starring role in "The Andy Griffith Show." 

He is survived by his wife Cindi and his daughter Dixie.  Griffith's son Andrew Jr., died in 1996.
