Another Complaint from Neighbors about Morningstar MinistriesFORT MILL, S.C. - Morningstar Ministries may be helping people get to heaven. But to some, the encircling Star Light Drive is the road to hell. "People are concerned and something needs to get done at this point," says Fort Mill resident Eric Kinsinger. He has been waging war on Morningstar for three years. He wants it's dilapidated tower torn down. Now, he wants the road, owned by Morningstar, fixed for the drivers who use it every day. He says, "There's tons of traffic on this road." In particular, a giant pot hole is causing problems for drivers. It's about four feet wide and seven feet long - and several inches deep. 24 hours after we called Morningstar about the roadway, the hole was filled. Others remained. "I think it's just a Band Aid. It's just going to continue to get worse. The road needs to be re-done," says Fort Mill resident Tammy Tufty. She drives Star Light Drive every day, taking her daughter to and from the public elementary school at the end of it. She says Morningstar needs to be a good neighbor and says, "I think number one it's a safety issue." Morningstar's Vice President David Yarnes tells WCCB News, of their private roads, "If people have a problem with them, they don't need to drive on them." Many private roads are turned over to the county for maintenance. District 1 County Councilman Michael Johnson says, "If that road is brought up to minimum code, I would do everything in my power to have the county take it and maintain it, if Morningstar let us." In the meantime, the war between Morningstar and neighbors carries on. Kinsinger says, "Once again it's all Morningstar's fault and they aren't gonna do anything." Morningstar could also decide to block access to their roads, but with the public elementary school at the end of Star Light Drive, Commissioner Johnson says the state could step in. |
