Apartment Fire Near ASU Campus Leaves One Dead

BOONE, N.C.-- The Boone Fire Chief confirmed a body was recovered from the remains of a fire at an apartment near Appalachian State University.

According to a report, the fire broke out around 4 a.m. at a building on Homespun Hills Road.

Crews on scene were notified of a possible person trapped inside. A victim was found once the blaze was brought under control.

The victim has not been identified. It is not known if they are a student at the university.
