Battling Droopy Drawers with ThongPendsCORNELIUS, N.C. - After seeing yet another young man's saggy, droopy drawers, Cornelius grandmother Beverly Terry decided enough was enough. She says, "This granny's got crack and her grits you can kiss. So what do you think fellas, you enjoy seeing this?" "This" is her tongue-in-cheek answer to the terrible trend of sagging: "ThongPends." She owns a craft store in Cornelius and made the first prototype about a year ago, followed up with a little video featuring her sisters. She says, "ThongPends, available in small, medium, large and Grandma, what big buns you have!" To date, the clip has gotten more than 11,000 views on YouTube. While many people get the humor, some are just grossed out. Terry's been featured on blog sites and news segments across the country. She's even crossed into the international market. "My favorite was, we were on a Pakistani website and we were banned in Pakistan. That's when you know that you've hit the big time." She isn't the first senior citizen to tackle the saggy pants battle. Remember American Idol's Larry Platt? His infamous audition song went, "Pants on the ground, pants on the ground, looking like a fool with your pants on the ground!" Like Platt, Terry is also hoping for some Hollywood exposure, she crafted the prototype with Ellen in mind and hopes the celebrity talk show host will have her on. And who knows. If droopy drawers are still popular, maybe ThongPends can be, too. Terry says, "It may take off as a real product, you never know!" |
