Big Name Now Connected To Eastland Mall Movie Studio Plan

CHARLOTTE, N.C.--Brogan Hall is no stranger to the spotlight. The seven year old takes acting classes to prepare for roles in local commercials. "It helps me so I can, like, concentrate," said the Matthews resident.

From talent agencies to acting classes, excitement is building now that Ken Lewis has signed on to join the Board of Studio Charlotte Development. The 10 year Development Plan to turn the old Eastland Mall site into the Central Avenue Studio complex. "They would all have that many more opportunities," said Brittany Mumford of Evolution Talent Agency.

Industry experts say the presence of the former Bank of America CEO could breath new life into the 150-million-dollar proposal to revitalize the 81 acre property. "They've heard about it and they would like to do it...but it gets them more excited," said Acting Out Studio Owner Kamber Hejlik.

For 10 year old actress Blythe Barrington Hughes who appeared in Twilight it would mean fewer out of town trips. "I'd be very excited for me because I'd get more local work," said the Tega Cay resident.

The city bought Eastland Mall for 13 point two million dollars last summer. Interested developers have to get their proposals to the city by late Spring. As that process moves on, these young actors are looking forward. "I love when people smile and I want to make everyone happy," said Brogan Hall.

Studio Charlotte Development says several international production companies remain interested in their plan. It also expects to add up to to five more board members including a still unidentified "A-List" actor.
