CMPD: Teen Arrested After Toddler Found Walking Alone Down N. Tryon St.

CHARLOTTE, N.C.-- Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police have charged a 16-year old for leaving a toddler alone on the street.

Police say a 2-year-old boy was reported walking alone down North Tryon Street near the intersection of Tom Hunter Road around 4 a.m.  A woman and a gas station clerk alerted police and took care of the boy until police arrived.

During the course of the investigation, detectives were able to locate and arrest 16-year old Sharon Cuthbertson. She is charged with child neglect.

Cuthbertson is a relative of the victim who was entrusted to provide care for the him.

The toddler was taken into custody by Department of Social Services while the legal guardian was located.
