CMPD Conducting Investigation After Body Found Sunday Morning

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police are investigating after a body was found lying in a drainage path on Sunday morning.

Metro Division police responded to the 1300 block of North Tryon St. after a 911 caller said they spotted a male lying in a drainage area near a path used by the transient population.

Medic responded to the scene and pronounced him deceased. The victim's identity will be released pending family notification.

Detectives are in the area to determine whether there are any witnesses to the incident. 

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call 704-432-TIPS and speak directly to a Homicide Unit Detective. Detective Morales is the lead detective to the case. The public can also call Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
