Canadian Driver Finding Success in Charlotte

by WCCB Charlotte

CONCORD, NC- After buying a go-kart from his grade school principal, Ryan Mackintosh fell in love with racing. But in his native Nova Scotia, Canada, the racing season is shortened by the longer winter.

So after seeing the Summer Shootout from Charlotte Motor Speedway on TV when he was 13, Ryan's dad made a promise to him: do well in school and we'll travel down to CMS. And the 3-time Canadian National Champion did just that.

Living with his Crew Chief, the 17-year-old Mackintosh is quickly finding success. Ryan is first in the world rankings in the Bandolero Racing Semi-Pro division. He is also a developmental driver for Bam Foyt racing.

Mackintosh plans on picking a college this winter, where he plans on learning business and marketing side of motorsports.
