Teen's License Revoked Hours Before Fatal Crash

CONCORD, NC -- A 17-year-old Charlotte teen is dead and a family is recovering after a fatal car accident on Friday.  According to authorities, Joshua Stanish led them on a high speed chase Friday night near Concord Mills. Police say he was doing 85 in a 55 zone when he was stopped and arrested for careless and reckless driving.  After his arrest, Mr. Stanish was taken before a Cabarrus County Magistrate and his license was revoked.

Approximately 5 hours later, a Concord Police officer attempted to stop Mr. Stanish for additional motor vehicle violations before he struck two other vehicles on Cox Mill Road near Edenbury Lane.

Four family members were in the first vehicle impacted as Stanish was driving on the wrong side of the roadway.  Ella Bost, 44, of Cotton Street in Harrisburg, North Carolina, was the driver of a SUV. Her injuries were listed as critical but non-life threatening. She remains hospitalized at Carolinas Medical Center Main. Her husband, Edward Bost Jr. and her son, Edward E. Bost III, were treated for minor injuries and released overnight from Carolinas Medical Center Northeast. Another son, Landon T. Bost, was a left rear passenger and his injuries were listed as critical but non-life threatening and he remains hospitalized at Carolinas Medical Center Main.

The driver of the third vehicle involved in this crash was identified as Megan E. Wallace of Magnolia Spring Drive in Harrisburg, North Carolina. She was treated and released from the scene and not transported by ambulance.

Stanish died when his car veered into oncoming traffic.

The North Carolina Highway Patrol and Concord Police continue to investigate the crash.
