Chief Monroe meets with Vice President Biden about Gun Legislation
CHARLOTTE, N.C.-- Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Chief Rodney Monroe will attend a White House press conference Tuesday with Vice President Biden concerning gun control legislation.
Chief Monroe is one of twenty police chiefs from across the county to be invited to this conference where proposed legislation on stricter background checks for gun purchases will be discussed.
Federal law requires licensed firearms dealers to perform background checks on all buyers; however, unlicensed private sellers are not required to conduct background checks on their buyers.
Chief Monroe supports legislation that requires background checks for all firearms sales.
